Hartsvillen Family YMCA

Building, growing, and thriving, the Hartsville Family YMCA was founded in 1985 as a storefront operation with one employee. By 1988, the Y moved into the historic Coker Department Store building in the heart of downtown. In 1998, a major expansion and renovation was completed resulting in a full facility YMCA that far exceeded the initial dreams.

Hartsville YMCA After School Care

Our caring staff provides love and attention to 4-12 year old children each school day at Carolina, Thornwell, North Hartsville, Southside, and McBee Elementary Schools. Transportation is provided from Washington Street and West Hartsville Elementary. Children receive snacks, homework help, craft time, social skills instruction, self-improvement activities, and physical fitness opportunities.

The YMCA Afterschool Care program gives children the consistent, positive attention they need. YMCA programs are exciting and challenging places and help children stretch their skills in mind and body. They also provide a safe, comfortable place where children build positive relationships with caring adults.

There is a very limited amount of scholarship assistance available based on financial need for low income families. Contact Wendy Kelly at 383-4547 for more information.

South Carolina Reciprocal Membership Program

SC RecipMy Y is Now Every Y in South Carolina

The Y movement is for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

We want to encourage members to utilize the Y as often as they can. Sometimes, it’s more convenient for members to utilize a Y in a different location when traveling, near a workplace, or in another region.

Now, Metro/Hartsville members have the flexibility to use other Y facilities throughout the state, at no extra charge.

HOW IT WORKS

Simply present your active YMCA membership card and photo ID at any participating YMCA and enjoy free access.

RECIPROCAL MEMBERSHIP DETAILS

  • The Reciprocal Membership Program is valid for Metro/Hartsville members only.
  • Visitors to other Y’s must present a valid YMCA membership card and photo ID upon their first visit and complete a visiting member waiver or standard membership application form with liability waiver.
  • Metro/Hartsville members must use their home branch at least 50% of the time. Program discounts do not apply. Participating YMCAs reserve the right to restrict facility or program access.

*Hartsville or Metro members only will receive reciprocity. Because Darlington and Chesterfield rates are discounted, their members will not receive reciprocity. Darlington and Chesterfield members may upgrade to a Metro membership in order to receive reciprocity. This means a Darlington or Chesterfield member must pay a guest pass fee to use one of the other Ys in SC, but a Hartsville or Metro member does not have to pay guest pass fees to use any Y in SC. A Hartsville member will need to be checked in at our branches through the Reciprocity Check-in, but the Metro member will still be able to scan their card at all branches for entry.

For a complete list of participating YMCAs and complete details, visit www.scymcas.org .
