Spring Youth Basketball

Have fun playing tournament style basketball in a safe environment for grades 5th through 12th. Kids will be put on age appropriate teams to play games weekly. Games begin April 13th and run through May 28th.

Counselors In Training

Hartsville YMCA

Counselors-In-Training (CIT) program is a progressive, experiential, education course designed to help young people develop their awareness and basic skills of youth work leadership and is enhanced with an intentional leadership development design. This workforce training is designed to develop the people and technical skills necessary to be effective, competent, and compassionate youth workers. CIT teaches management and leadership skills providing basic training on such areas as child abuse prevention, time management, and curriculum development. Participants will have hands on experiences working with our Summer Specialty Camps.

Please complete and return the Information Form on the back of this flyer to Terrie Reames or YMCA Front Desk by Monday, April 6th. Training will begin the week of April 13th.

Youth Volleyball Clinic

Come and learn the fundamentals of volleyball, including skills such as passing, serving, setting and hitting. Participants will develop such skills through drills and friendly play. Volleyball is a fun, fast-paced team sport that develops many different athletic skills.

Reach and Rise Mentoring Program

Reach & Rise Mentoring Program

Our Y is pleased to begin offering the Reach & Rise Mentoring Program. Reach & Rise is a national YMCA program designed to build a better future for youth by helping them reach their full potential through the support of caring adults. Reach & Rise supports youth ages 6 to 17 who lack role models and are in communities challenged by poverty, crime and single-parent households, among other social issues.

Mentor Requirements:

  • Must be at least 23 years old
  • Complete 15+ hours training (provided over 4-5 weeks)
  • Pass fingerprint security screening
  • Meet with youth 1-3 hours each week (flexible – scheduled by mentor, youth and youth’s family)
  • Make a 1 year commitment to the program

Who does the Program Serve?

  • 6-17 year olds who lack role models and are challenged by poverty, single-parent households, and other social issues and who could benefit from a meaningful relationship with an adult. Youth will participate in projects, field trips and other engaging activities.

Indoor Triathlon

Hartsville YMCA

Whether you are a seasoned triathlete or just want a new challenge, sign up for our Indoor Triathlon! First, sign up for the Tri at the front desk. Then sign up for a time to swim in the pool and bike in studio C. When you are ready to run on the treadmill or row in the fitness center, check in with the fitness center attendant. Sign up at the front desk for the swim or row before February 27th to be guaranteed a t-shirt. The contest begins March 9th. Contest must be completed by March 25th, 2015.

We will have prizes for Male and Female Top Finishers in each age category. Ages 12 and up may participate. T-shirts will be provided to those who sign up by February 27th.

Spring Swim Lessons

Hartsville YMCA

Learn one of the most important life saving skills in the only indoor pool in Darlington County. All classes are taught by trained and certified instructors and a low teacher/student ratio is maintained.

Lifeguard Classes

Train for a job that makes a difference. Become a lifeguard through our program and help keep families safe while they are enjoying the water. We offer 2 sessions to choose from.

  • Registration Deadlines: April 16, 2015 for April training

May 1, 2015 for May training

  • Must be 15 years old by the last class
  • Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl or breast stroke, and displaying rhythmic breathing. It is not timed but must be continuous.
  • Must be able to swim 20 yards, retrieve a brick from a depth of 8ft, and swim on your back, holding the brick to your chest for 20 yards.

Women on Weights

Hartsville YMCA

Women on Weights is a 4 week class designed to teach proper weight use and do circuit training using weights. A new class will start on the first Tuesday of the month and end on the last Thursday of the month. You must sign up at the front desk for this class. There is a class maximum of 6 people per monthly class period.
